Yet another Painting

Okay this was a tough one for me to paint. I took this photo out at a friends ranch. A fire in a tall industrial can was started but the wood was wet thus lot's of smoke. My colors were limited and it was hard for me to stay in all those grey/blue tones of smoke. So there is an occasional splash of color.

Large Painting of Model

Okay this is a large 36" x 48" painting that I completed recently. I used big brushes to obtain textural variation and color. I painted this from a model I had in the Figurative class I've been attending.

So here it is.

A new Painting

This painting is from a class I've been taking on Figurative Painting . The model was placed under strong contrast lighting. We were to create a believable sense of space by incorporating components of the physical environment. Create atmospheric perspective using contrast and edges. So here it is

Break Through

Recently I embraced texture, reflection, color absorption and better use of negative space. I've become less fearful of laying down a stroke of paint, of leaving it and moving on. Then coming back later and joining the strokes I've laid down. Letting one color enter another. Using larger brushes . So here's a new painting. I've used a very limited palette and had some fun.

Another painting from the 1920"s

Here's another painting I did recently in my 1920's early 30's genre.

I'm keeping with the unfinished feeling. Leaving some room for the imagination.

I just love the outfits and hairstyles and furniture of this era. My intent is to work on a very large piece depicting all the above... soon

Enjoy.

Some new pieces

These are just a few of my new paintings. I'm in and out of animals, people and now working on landscapes.
A couple of theses paintings are second time around pieces. I've painted the Lion and the Lamb and Cricket on the Haystack before. It's an exercise in seeing if I'm improving. The good news is I see an improvement. HOORAY! So I will continue to work hard and learn.

One of Mother Natures Best
18" x 24" Oil

Carlsbad Sunset
16" x 20" Oil

I took a break from people and animal depictions recently and painted a few Ocean scenes.

It was rather soothing and refreshing.

So it's another avenue of expressing emotion with color.

The Rug Seller 14"x 18" Oil
Hulu Girl 14" x 18" Oil

The Time it Was 14" x 18" Oil

Grazing Plus one 30" x 40" Oil

He Called You Bab 28" x 30" Oil not done yet

Yes, I've been working.

I'm expanding my palette...adding more colors, using more glazes and transparents. Learning more about tiling and contrast. I really enjoy emphasising dark and light.

So here are some recent works. I'm still working on one or two.

I'll post the completed painting when I finish.

I'm also working on another painting in the late 20's early 30's genere collection. So here it is.

New Wildlife Paintings, Bobcat, Tiger, Swans

Here's a few new paintings for your perusal and consumption. You do know all my paintings are available for sale.

These are small 8 x 10 and 9 x12 pieces. It's definitely challenging for me to paint this size . I find it difficult to put such a huge creature as a tiger into such a small limited space. But so be it.

I am actually preparing these oil paintings for a upcoming show this Spring. To participate the size of an artists submission is limited to 9 x 12 framed. Sigh.... I like to paint larger.

These paintings are being offered at a much less expensive price point... ranging from $250 - $425.

New Year New Work

I'm learning to incorporate more color. Color for depth, color for emotion, color to satisfy a need and curiosity. So here's some new colorful oil paintings.
The first painting of the two beautiful dogs was done on tile for a client.
"Carla loved the portrait of Lulu and Aidabanana. She just about cried when she seen it. You really captured both dogs. Thank you. Linda"

Lots more to come!
