Time goes by a Lynx

 Here's a Lynx I was working on , put aside and now finished.

It's a 16 x 20 oil on linen.   There's something about the chroma of this piece that speaks to me...here it is

A Mountain Lion

 "Stepping into the Light" is the tittle of this piece.  It's an oil on linen 30" x 24''.

Once again the inspiration is Conrad...the mountain lion who resides at Lion Tigers and Bears.

 I'm having some fun with this one.....colors.....light...dark...realism... suggestion.

It's a mixed media. Acrylic and oil on canvas 24 x 20...

May say this is done. I'll sit on it a few days. Let it resonate...view with a new day vision.

Canadian Lynx

 I'm going to say this is done.   9 x 12 oil on cradled birchwood.

While in Montana I photographed and observed this beautiful Canadian Lynx.

 Just started this small oil on a cradled birchwood. It's a 9 x 12. Using both pallet knife and brush....think I'm gonna pop this one...go for some bold color...soon.

Oh and I painted these abstracts in between some wildlife painting .  They are 36" x 24" mixed media on canvas ....still wondering if and when the two will converge.

Jagged Descent, Coyote descending

 More work on this. I'm enjoying the process...Almost done.....real close.

Creating movement, life and energy with bits of color, scattered, short quick splashes .Contrasting bold with subtle nuances.

 Photographed this coyote on a trip to Montana.  I have plenty of reference for many more paintings to come.    This is a 24" x 18"  oil on linen.    Day 2 of work....off to the studio soon for day 3.

The Last Look and The Rights of Spring

A White Wolf in Spring

 Here's a 16" x 20" oil on linen......Gracie is her name.

 This Mexican Gray Wolf is 24" x 12" oil on linen. Inspiration : He resides at the Beardsley Zoo in Conn.

 Jack Bradley allowed me to use his photograph as a reference.. Most of the time I take my own photos and use them as reference.     As is in the case of my bear painting.   That's Bruno a Grizzly that lives in Montana.

Mexican Gray Oil Painting and Bear beginning

 I've finished the Mexican Gray Wolf and I've started a Bear painting.

The Wolf resides at the Beardsley Zoo in Conn.  The Bear, Bruno lives in Montana.

Both are 20" x 16" oil on linen.

Fire Mountain The Wolf is done

 I'm calling this done...of course I could nit pick and fix some stuff...but nothings perfect..I think it's better that way....Thank you Jack Beck for allowing the use of your wonderful photograph...and what a great workshop it was... 30" x 24" oil on linen..I'm thinking of calling it "Fire Mountain"..

 Here's the start of a 30" x 24" oil on linen of a Wolf.  I'm learning a lot from a workshop I just attended with Johanne Mangi , a phenomanl artist, as well as instructor.  The process:

 I've been working on this Tiger in a workshop I've been taking with Johanne Mangi....such a good artist..

This is a 20" x 16" oil on linen.

Having some fun...Camouflage Rabbit

 This is a mixed media, acrylic and oil on canvas   20" x 20"  fun.

I photographed this rabbit on my front yard and have been wanting to paint her for some time.

So here she is.   

Also I have Amber shellacked some birchwood for another day. I intend to use this substrate to make a few more paintings of this rabbit.

The year of the Tiger

"The Year of the Water Tiger begins on February 1st, 2022, and as with all Tiger years, it will prove to have many qualities that the Tiger possesses—dynamic, engaging, and unexpected".

I'm working on this 30" x 24" oil of a Tiger named Maverik...in celebration of his short sweet life. He was rescued off the streets of L.A as a cub and lived happily at Lion Tigers and Bears... He came to an unfortunate sudden end when accidentally he came in contact with another Tiger and...well he died.

So here it is the preliminary drawing and a few days worth of painting.
