New Paintings

I'm working on a new series of paintings. All about emotion. The first goes out to all "The Prayer". I used a very limited palette on this piece, maybe 5 colors. Started with burnt umber under painting.
The Prayer is for the world the way it is.
The next piece I'm working on and is not finished yet is "On Her Mind". I am also working with a limited palette on this one. I hope to finish this one this week and will post the finished image upon completion.
So Here they are.

New Wildlife Paintings, Bobcat, Tiger, Swans

Here's a few new paintings for your perusal and consumption. You do know all my paintings are available for sale.

These are small 8 x 10 and 9 x12 pieces. It's definitely challenging for me to paint this size . I find it difficult to put such a huge creature as a tiger into such a small limited space. But so be it.

I am actually preparing these oil paintings for a upcoming show this Spring. To participate the size of an artists submission is limited to 9 x 12 framed. Sigh.... I like to paint larger.

These paintings are being offered at a much less expensive price point... ranging from $250 - $425.

I won an Award for a Wildlife Art show

Gosh I forgot to mention the Wildlife art show in La Mesa and the award I received. I came in third place with the painting in this photo.
Well here I am with the painting and award.
I am in the process of submitting 5 pieces to another Wildlife show in Fallbrook this week.
I'll have photos of the new pieces up on the blog by the end of the week.
I have some new pieces at a Phantom Gallery in Carlsbad and few new pieces at Acapella in Temecula.

New Year New Work

I'm learning to incorporate more color. Color for depth, color for emotion, color to satisfy a need and curiosity. So here's some new colorful oil paintings.
The first painting of the two beautiful dogs was done on tile for a client.
"Carla loved the portrait of Lulu and Aidabanana. She just about cried when she seen it. You really captured both dogs. Thank you. Linda"

Lots more to come!

Some time has past and some new paintings have been created

Wow time flew by on me.
I have been working. Trying to get value, tone and color right.
It's certainly challenging. I was handed a new vocabulary with it comes the responsibility of defining it...applying it to my work. This might take some time but invariably I will succeed.
With that said here are some new works.

The first piece, the nude is a study and not yet complete and I'm still working on the cowboy piece which is from a photo I took while vacationing in Borrego Springs with my family this past fall. The saucy cigarette yielding woman is an Ode to Vargas. The bottom piece is a study in mood. The White duck was created with compliments to the Wild Animal park and is from a photo I took this summer.

Hope you enjoy.
